Consultation has concluded
The Community Services Division is seeking input from Skateboarders, BMX riders, Scooter riders and all other users of the Cobourg Skatepark to help guide future planning for the park.
Background Information
The Cobourg Skateboard Park, located in Donegan Park, was built in 2003. In 2016, the park was refurbished to ensure its safety and to extend its lifespan. The work completed included the welding of edges, repainting, grinding of raised edges and the replacement of all missing fasteners.
The Skatepark is once again in need of refurbishment or replacement. The Town of Cobourg Community Services Division would therefore like to engage skatepark users and all members of the public to best understand the needs and desires for the parks future design.
References and Considerations:
The current skatepark is made of metal, however construction options include:
Prefabricated kits made of wood or steel and assembled on a concrete or asphalt slab
Concrete skateparks built on-site
The Cobourg Community Centre Campus Master Plan noted that the CCC Campus would be a good location for a new skateboard park. However, staff have received input from some users who would prefer to keep it at Donegan Park
The Town of Cobourg currently has $300,000 set aside in the 2023 Capital Budget for the refurbishment of the park
