Victoria Beach
Beach Water quality is monitored by Lakelands Public Health, which can be found on their webpage.
In addition, the Town of Cobourg has signage placed on the main Victoria Beach indicating the results from the weekly water quality test.
Dogs are not allowed on Victoria Beach.
Registered service animals being used to aid a person with a visual, hearing or other impediment are permitted on Victoria Beach while serving their duties.
Each of the towers has public safety signage posted as well as numbers to call if emergency services support is required. They each have a unique colour and number, allowing them to be used for navigational purposes or as meeting points.
The lifeguard towers are built into the Town of Cobourg’s emergency response system and each of the towers are registered for their geographic location. Therefore, having the towers in place provides an exact location for emergency response teams to locate an individual if they call from one of those four locations.
The towers are important for emergency responses, but they also provide residents with key landmarks on the beach to locate family or friends.
The towers are more than a beautiful landmark or photo-op backdrop, just because they don’t have lifeguards, doesn’t mean they aren’t serving an important purpose for our community.
